The series consists of financial records of the Finance Office of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) from 1957-1969. The records include receipts for contributions (1959-1965); invoices (1957-1967) including Western Union invoices containing copies of all telegrams sent or received by the SCLC; requisitions (1960-1967) containing travel authorizations; banking files (1958-1966 with gaps) consisting of canceled checks or stubs, deposit slips, and statements; special project files (1961-1966) pertaining to benefits, the Birmingham Project, the Chicago project, the Citizenship program, and the Freedom Ride Coordinating Committee; and miscellaneous files (1960-1968).
